Why the need to live up with how the world lives ?

Can't we all live simply ?

Why join the rat race that your friends are in ?

Are our lives secured in Christ Jesus who has already ordained every day of our life ?

I am still amazed how distracted we all can be in order to find that "thing" to make our life meaningful. Think many attimes, we fail to bring God into the center of our life.

The shocking thing can be we can be doing all the right thing;

serving
worshipping in church
fellowshipping with one another

but yet don't know God or don't have a personal relationship with God. It's possible.

But GOD is SOVEREIGN. HE allows everything to happen for a reason. But that doesn't mean God will not intervene.

In the NEW TESTAMENT, it protrays that God is a loving God but we fail to remember that in the OLD TESTAMENT, God showed His Wrath when HE destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

To me my God is Sovereign ! He reigns and He will intervene !

If moments spent that I choose to remember are able to be beautiful crafted onto pieces of glasses and made into a collage, then I would have alot. But yesterday all those moments came crashing down on me.

In 20 years, feeling that brokenness is something I thought I will never revisit but it happened. A day where I asked God to hold me close at such a time. A day where regret, anger, holy anger, disbelief, sense of lost-ness and alot of other emotions races through my head.

To me, it's a big deal. I know everyone have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God but when such incidences happen, God's word didn't pop up to me immediately. Instead I chose to react how I felt at that moment. Perhaps because I held you up in high hopes in the Lord.

Now I really am at a lost but I am clinging on to the good Lord.

Hmm not so much in the celebrating mood. Recieved not so good news about a CG member and his wife lately. They lost the baby in the womb as the baby did not have any heartbeat. =(

Actually I am quite saddened by this. This is because I prayed also for them for sometime. And the rejoicing my whole CG had was tremendous, and now I think everyone is saddened also.

Comes to show that how fragile life can be. But I still will say GOD is SOVEREIGN !

I had a awesome start to 2009 ! After counting down at Brighton Community Church, I came home about 3am. Took a long shower.

As I was showering was committing to God the year ahead, 2009..Told God a bold thing this year.

I've reached a milestone, 10th year serving God in Brighton Community Church. I simply asked God to stretch me this year and also that I am going to give God a year of service like never before. Going to give God a gift of blessing of service this year. 52 weeks of service, of all out service to God..

Whether is it serving in the Brighton Youth Ministry, Stage-Crew Ministry, Brighton Worship Team, I am going to give God my 100% and even more.

Also as I was praying during shower, God impressed upon my heart a word for a friend. A word of "parting the red-sea" for this person. Just as how God parted the red sea for Moses, God will part the red sea for the situation at home for this friend of mine. I received alot of word of encouragement for this friend too so I wrote my first LONG email for the year 2009 !

I just spent a good deal of time worshipping God 4am plus in the morning and slept about 5plus.

I just must say, it's really been a good start to 2009 and in my spirit I feel it's going to be an awesome 10th year as a Christian too.

Resolutions I am making;

Read the bible in a year
Pray to what I committed to
Grow in my skill of guitar playing
Be at my peak of fitness in year (leading up to my climb of Mt.K)
Hope to get my driving license (2009)
Build meaningful friendships
Write 4 songs atleast (each quarter of the year write one)

For the above mentioned, well if you are reading this, then this is for you.

You are making History in BrightonYOuth. You youth teens are going to be the first batch of successfully integrated bunch from BrightonClub / Sunday Church.

Every week when I see you present at BrightonYouth, it really just warms my heart, brings me alot of joy. To see all of you so happy, excited is something priceless to me.

I have been in the Youth Ministry since 1999. One way or another, somehow God brings me around back to the ministry. Whether helping out in YOuth Camps with logistics or with Sound or playing guitar or leading the youths, God has always kept me within the ministry. Once again, from Brighton Club, God has somehow orchestrated me to be back in BrightonYouth. My desire has always been to serve in the Youth Ministry for as long as I can. Why? Because this is the very place I grew up in in Church.

Last time I was a CGL, just like Alywin, Reynard and Xiang Xiang. Alywin and Reynard I think were in my CG.. Then years later, now they are CGLs, leading the youths and all. You know why I feel so much for this ministry? It's people like them that God has shown me to encourage me that the work I do in YF does pay off. It's really a joy to see people's lives transformed, people making radical decisions for God. Jovi made a radical decision lately and I think it's very encouraging. A young girl like her, God has used to encouraged me.

Last week she shared with me that she stopped her circus involvement because she wants to come to YF. I was blown away. At such a young age, she can make such radical decisions. It reminded me how last time I also made similar decisions simply because so that I can attend YF. I gave up my involvement in SOCCER, BB, Track & Field. All these I was doing very well but I chose to give it up so that I can be at YF every Saturday.

I can only say that every week you deciding to come to BrightonYouth is a encouragement to me and to all the LEADERS. Keep It Up !

Never doubt the people whom know you for a long time. Attimes what they say will have more truth than what you may think. This is because when we're surrounded and simply overwhelmed by everything else, we tend to unconsciously shut ourselves from everyone and just think what we think is correct.

The hard truth is that, that is where our weakness is. It's at such a time where the devil takes a opportunity to have that "influence" in us. Why I say this? Well I have seen it happen in my friends' lives before. We will begin to live our own life and everything will be normal but the wise counsel, the promptings of the Holy Spirit, we won't realise it but we won't even acknowledge it to the slightest bit. That's how much influence the devil can have in our lives.

I like to keep myself close to the counsel of the wise. Why? Because I believe they've gone through life more than me, they've seen, they've experienced, they've witnessed, they've counselled so I will always take the advice of the wise with a pinch of salt. Of course these will be the people whom I trust alot and I have a certain level of respect.

I believe God placed us in the midst of friends, wise people for a reason. We weren't meant to live alone by ourselves. God placed everyone in our lives for a reason. And when it comes to making decisions, yes there are some we can make on our own, and some when need to seek wise counsel. Like I wrote in my previous blog entry on "DECISIONS", well after seeking Wise Counsel, the decisions one makes will pave the path. If it is a wrong decision, then that detour comes into our life. God will bring us through it still but there will be events/situations for us and we'll learn alot from such and then God will bring us back to a listening point again where HE will allow us to make decisions again. If we make the right decision, then God points and guides us to the next destination.

You see that's what's so good about God. Since the beginning of time, HE gave us this special thing called " FREE WILL " or as I like to call it " CHOICE " . God never forces us to accept him, God never forces us to love him, God never forces us to choose a particular person as our life partner, God never forces us to like someone, God never forces us to steal, God never forces us at all in any aspect. HE simply leaves the CHOICE in our own HANDS. At the end of the day, one needs to know this;

GOD is SOVEREIGN.

HE lets things happen for a reason but HE never leaves us out of HIS SIGHT.

I do believe when we CHOOSE to make wrong decisions, it makes GOD sad but HE will still bring us through it because when all the dust has settled, we are still being moulded in our CHARACTER, refined in our thoughts and deeds by our loving God !

Dunno whether I have written previously on decisions but doesn't matter.
It's good to express one's thoughts by writing.

Sometimes when one makes decisions, it could be either wrong or right. If one makes a wrong decision, it doesn't mean it's end of the road..It's just that the person take a detour to reach the intended destiny for that particular person. If the person makes the right decision, then praise God. He/She has heard correctly or has followed the prompting in his/her heart correctly.

It's okay to make mistake in making decisions. We all learn, but once we've learnt, then we should not walk that same path again. If not, we'll be just walking in detours for a long time and be wasting away the precious time God has given to us.

Well the year 2008 is coming to end soon. Looking back, I've made 2 bold decisions, a few decisions that I am happy about and of course there are some I've regretted. All in all, I still give Thanks to God. HE's been with me all along, that I know. HE given me strength, and wisdom in making decisons too. When I look back, I am amazed that I can make such decisions too. It's through such that God shines in my life.

I give thank God for something also - my highlight for the year 2008 !

You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. It's done..out of the 3 songs I've written, this is the only one so far there is a tune to it. Well a brother did tell me some of the words very similar to the song "All of my days" from Hillsongs but I have not been listening to much mp3 tracks lately till someone blessed me with an iPod Video 30GB..But before that this song was already written..

Abit of background on how this song came about. I was just practising for the upcoming Sunday's worship service and after I finished with the songs, i just carried on playing a progression of chords. Then as I was playing, I just began to sing what was in my heart and from that this song came about. I took two days to finish this song. First day I wrote only 2 verses. Then 2 days later I spent the morning refining the chords of the song and words of the song.

How the last two verse came about was that it's a personal response to God that really all my days, I live for Him and that I want to be in HIS plans and not mine. For the 4th verse, it's actually a personal prayer that I make before every worship session. I will always say what you read in the 4th verse. That's why I ended it off the song with it. May you be blessed with the words of the song.

As the days goes by, well I must say I can only wait and wait till God's plan uncovers.

Somehow I guess it's about really hoping and trusting in God.

Trust in His timing.

Many at times, I realise people just want to take matters in their own hands and see how things work out but they leave God out of the picture. Then when things go wrong, then they bring God back into the picture.

Trust !

It's such a big word.
It's very important to me.
The greatest hurt one can do to me is by misusing that trust I have in them.
I already have experienced it thrice already.

I still trust in you. No doubt. Just hope that, that trust is not taken for granted for I treasure Friendship alot.

If you're ever coming to that situation to misuse that trust I have in you, then don't tell me or I do hope I don't come to know of it. ~cos I don't know how I'll react also and I don't want to find out for myself too.

Alot is taking place in my life towards the end of the year.

Excited definitely and I very much want to continue to have the HAND OF GOD in my LIFE ! Without Him, I don't think I will be able to serve in the areas HE has placed me in.

Praying also fervently for something also. In fact praying for 2 specific things. Once they are answered, it'll be written here for all to read.

Meantime, gearing up for the year end. Very very excited. Can't wait.

Re-visiting an old cartoon that is very nice ! Suddenly remembered this cartoon on Thursday when met Elna & Xiang Xiang for dinner. Met Elna & Xiang Xiang @ NUS for dinner. It was a last minute thingy. Was super tired till the point I was dozing off at the table in office but I think the trip to NUS was worth it. We had fun over dinner too.

Anyway, the weekend is here. I'm excited about Saturday. Going back to the Youth Ministry for the next 3 months ! Looks like God brought me back to the ministry I still love alot. Maybe, ......just maybe God has a plan ! Whatever the case is, I let HIM guide me.

It's been a quiet week. It's going to be an even quieter week ahead. How I know? Well I can sense it. So far my "sensing" has not gone wrong. Most of my "hunches" has been accurate. I'm not fortune-teller, it's just a "sensing" I have.

A few weeks back, I was walking around before going to cell group. Suddenly I had this hunch that my guitar strings is going to break soon. So I went to get a pack of guitar strings. True enough, that very day when I went for PnP and was playing the song "FOR WHO YOU ARE", my guitar strings broke. By chance? NAH !! I choose to say that my hunch was right.

Then recently I guessed something. So I went to double confirm and true enough, I was correct. By chance again? NAH !! I choose to say that hunch is right again.

It's this "feeling" inside that I have towards certain situations that allow me to read into it.

Well it's not always rosy. There are situations which I sensed that things will turn out bad or just not good and true enough it was. Anyway it's a sunday afternoon and I am blogging. I don't know what am I doing home so early. Oh well, like I said, it's going to be a quiet week for me.

I've read dozens of books on prayer, and I've learned a few things. But most of what I know about prayer, I've learned from the Prayer Expert. Since Jesus invented it and taught it, who would know more about prayer?

Twenty-three times the Gospels refer to Jesus praying, which means he prayed frequently, often silently and sometimes secretly. He prayed for himself and his mission, and he also prayed for his followers, for the sick, for Jerusalem, for the world, and for those in need. In short, he faithfully practiced the very thing he invented.

Luke's Gospel relates how he taught his followers to pray. It reads: "As He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, "LORD, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." And he said to them, 'When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven...'" (Lk 11:1-2a, NKJV).

The model that follows is what we call the Lord's Prayer. The disciples may have meant they wanted Jesus to teach them a formulaic prayer. John the Baptist apparently gave his followers a model, and so did other religious leaders. In modern denominations, some congregations pray the Lord's Prayer at virtually every service. Others don't feel the need to repeat it literally, but take it as an example of the kind of praying we're to do.

What's noteworthy is that the disciples went to the Prayer Expert. After all, they had followed him, observed him in action, and decided they liked what they saw.

It's often helpful to consult the expert. When I first realized I needed a computer in 1983, I didn't know anything about them. So Paul Price, an early hacker-expert, helped me get started. Within a few days, he taught me everything I needed to know. Since then, whenever I've decided to upgrade, I've gone to an expert for advice and instruction.

When it comes to prayer, there is really only one Expert, and whatever we know about prayer (if it's accurate information) comes from him.

After all the years of praying seriously, I still don't think of myself as an expert. I'm still learning. I'm not trying to devise the perfect seven words that unlock the whole universe. I'm trying to learn more about God, about me, and about how to open myself in prayer.

My attitude toward prayer has changed drastically over the years. Back in the early days after my conversion, if anyone had asked, I would have told them that prayer was simply talking with God. In fact, I think I said that a few times. Yet as I look back, I realize those early attempts were mostly begging sessions. I worked hard at convincing God to hear me and give me what I asked for. Without realizing it, I was trying to sell God on responding to me.

That's not where I am now. Asking is still a big part of prayer, but I've also learned other aspects, such as fellowship and praise.

I still wonder about how to pray specifically for particular needs. For instance, I have two good friends that I'll call Mike and John. I don't know how to pray for Mike. At age thirty-five, he's still trying to resolve identity issues that he talked about seven years ago. I don't like the catchall, "God, bless Mike," and I don't want to recite a list of ten things I think Mike needs right now. So how do I pray?

John, an ordained minister and former pastor, is one of the neediest people I know. If anyone yearns to be loved and valued for himself, that's John. How do I pray for him? Should I enumerate his needs one by one? Do I pick out one and stay with it until God answers before I move on to the second? How do I know which is most important?

I've committed myself to pray for both of these men daily. Mike knows that; I'm not sure John does. I'm not praying so they'll know. I'm praying because I genuinely care about both of them. Even so, I don't know how to pray effectively for them.

It's also frustrating that, after years of holding them up to God, I can't see any change. I wonder how many times I've paused in praying for those two men and said, "God, I just don't know how to pray." I'm not aware of their real needs-I see only outward behavior and character flaws.

How, Lord? How do I pray?

A few mornings ago, I walked through the woods with Mike on my mind. I had spoken to him on the phone the night before for nearly twenty minutes. I tried to focus my prayers for him but felt confused. I paused to lean against a black oak. "God, I don't have the slightest idea how to pray for Mike. Show me."

For several seconds, silence surrounded me. Then I heard myself saying, "Lord, won't you wrap your arms around Mike so that he'll know he's loved? Today, make him aware that you're with him and that you care deeply."

Simple stuff. Nothing profound or brilliant. But it came from my heart-something the Prayer Expert has taught me.

I could cite a variety of examples of what I've learned from the Prayer Expert. I'm still not sure I get it right, and I have a lot more to learn. It's like the lessons Paul Price gave me when I operated my first computer. I made mistakes even after he explained what I was supposed to do. But I kept at it. Now I can handle increasingly sophisticated computers. Even so, I know very little.

The best lesson I learned was to go to the expert when I have a problem.

The expert knows.

And the Prayer Expert not only knows how, but patiently works with me and teaches me. The Prayer Expert loves me and cares about my growth.

When Jesus had finished praying, one of his disciples said to him, "LORD, teach us to pray, just as John taught his followers to pray." So Jesus told them, "Pray in this way...." --LUKE 11:1-2a, CEV

it sounds so simple to ask you to teach me to pray.
It gets complicated when I put it into practice.

Dreams . Desires .

Everyone has dreams and desires. Some have even dreams for me and I am very appreciative of that but I think for me what I want is to dream what God has already intended me to become in time to come. At the moment, I honestly can't seem to grab hold of God's dream for my life. Of course I have my own dream for my career path, for my home, for the person I hope to be with in the time to come and all but I just want God's agenda to be mine and not my agenda to be God's.

What people think of me - it doesn't really matter much.

What God thinks of me - it means the world to me.

At the end of the day, I know my life I am accountable to God. I am aware God has placed people in my life but I also must remember, whether Christians or not, we live in a fallen world, where people, even Christians are not perfect. Every choice I make, I know there is consequences. Whether these choices I make take me to my God-given destiny earlier or later depends on me but ultimately I will reach there. Why? Because God is Sovereign !

Right now, all I can say is I am praying and asking God ! All I hope is that He will give me a crystal clear sign on what to do ! I am trusting in HIM.

Lastly, on a different topic. I just hope that what I have said has not caused so much of a difference. Life still goes on and I trust in God that He will grant me that wisdom to see whether it'll come to past or not. Till then, I am going to believe that it's possible !

One of the greatest gifts God has given us is people. When you think of giving someone gifts, you may think of inanimate objects or things, but God thinks of people. When He saw Adam was alone, He gave him a wife and companion. When He saw the world in need, He gave us Jesus. When He wants to change an enterprise, community or nation, He raises up people who will fulfil His purposes.

Great relationships are a sign of a prosperous life but they don't come by chance. Sadly, we live in a world filled with broken relationships. I'm not only talking about broken marriages, but failed friendships, family fall-outs or bitter business partnerships. The reality is that you certainly don't fluke a good marriage, a great friendship or a successful business partnership. The principles that you sow into the relationship will determine what you reap.

Many take their relationships for granted and only when they experience problems, do they desperately seek answers or help. The truth is that if the pain and bitterness of one bad relationship is never dealt with, it has the potential to affect other relationships too. Yet the good news is that even those who have been hurt in intimate relationships can apply biblical principles, lay the right kind of foundations and go on to build great relationships.

Two ducks and a frog living in a pond. They are great friends. Summer was coming and the well was beginning to dry up. It was easy for the ducks to just flap their wings and fly out but they were thinking what to do to help the froggie friend.

So the frog was smart and suggested this idea. He said, "Take one branch. Duck 1 take one end and Duck 2 take one end and I will bite the center of the branch.

Then you two can fly me out of this well."

One day they carried on with the plan. Everything was going on well. They were almost going to a new well. Then as they were flying over a farm, the farmer was telling his wife, "Wow! that's a great idea ! I wonder who thought of it."

Froggie heard the farmer saying this so then the frog replied, " I did ! "

There's quite alot of things happening. The one thing I recognize that I am very aware to commit to God everything I have done lately. Whether it is meeting people for lunch/dinner/movie/chill out, I've prayed that God will go before me and just be there, that God will use me as a vessel, that God will be glorified.

Took a step of faith and just opened up to share something to a friend. I would say that Christ-centered friendship is something that is very real. It can withstand anything. No matter what happens, if a friendship was build upon Christ from the beginning, then it will last for the years to come.

The blog "music" that you hear is something that I just want to share with everyone whom visit my blog from time to time. I think it's important to constantly remember, in fact, if possible everyday to remember the cross. Something that my dear buddy, Xiang Xiang shared to me over a conversation, she shared that everyday morning as she makes her way to work, she commits her life "ANEW" to God. You know it was a simple thing but it was quite impactful. So the following day, I prayed that also and somehow I sensed something new over the next few days as I daily prayed that same prayer, " I commit my life anew today to you God".. That is why this blog music is on. Without fail, I everyday I listen to it. It's such an encouragement to my spirit-man within me.

Maturity
Something I longed within my heart and in my own spiritual life. The path I am taking I thank God it's right! Maturity in God is something that has to be constantly nurtured; Nurtured through consistent prayer, fasting, personal worship-lifestyle, reading Christian novels/books, and of course the bible!

Commited to God a small area of my life to Him; relationship. No activity in life at the moment. So those reading this and starting to let your thoughts wonder, come back ! NO ACTIVITY..all your wild guesses are pointless okay? *ha ha* Every night before I turn in, I pray for God's will to be done. Anyway this has never been a issue in my life. It's like at the "backest" part of my mind, never do think about it unless people bring up the topic or some people whom are itchy with their mouths whom like to "stir" around. Anyway God knows everything. So if you really really really can't wait to find out who is it, then ASK GOD lor! Ask me also no use cos I myself don't know. I can only say that in His time I will know.

Last but not least, to be that A Man After God's Own Heart. For those reading this entry, that's my heart's desire. Whatever it takes, whatever sacrifice it takes or whatever God asks of me, as long as I will be able to hear from God that I was "A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART", then everything else cannot compare. Recently I heard from God @ Brighton Youth Camp that HE is pleased and that I am faithful. When I heard that through Ps.Ben Chew, whom has not seen me or heard from me for like 7 years already prayed that. He prayed and said that that's God's word for me. I simply just cried like never before as I stood there with Ps.Ben Chew. How did Ps. Ben Chew know? He has not even spoken to me or know about my life for the past 7 years since I graduated from St.Andrew's Sec. Sch...So definitely it's God, cannot deny that. It just meant so much to me to "hear" from God that HE has found me FAITHFUL and that HE IS PLEASED. The words that I thought I would only hear when I get to heaven I got to hear earlier but still when I get to heaven I want to hear it again! The joy and the mixed emotions on that night was simply overwhelming.

So far it's been a interesting year for me. I have this feeling that it's going to be a great year for me! God is with me and HE will continue to be with me.
